The semi-closed system increases CO² levels and stabilises temperatures
FABER, in association with our partners at Royal Brinkman, have developed our own semi-closed greenhouse system aptly named the ‘Biofactory Hybrid X’. Biofactory™ is our own term used to describe a new age of greenhouse. No longer are greenhouses used for traditional means of vegetables and flowers but we now see many new developments with aquaculture, herbs, cherries and other mixed used crops. Greenhouses are also becoming more technical huge technological advances over the past decade resulting in more of a ‘biological factory’ than humble greenhouse.
The ‘X’ in BioFactory Hybrid: X refers to air eXchange, air miXing and air moXement inside the semi-closed system. Herein lies the secret of the FABER semi-closed system. Because of the semi-closed nature of the house air exchanges and flows are vital to both the inside temperature and CO² levels. This benefits the plant temperature, VPD and CO² uptake. Too many air exchanges and the dosed CO² is wasted, too few air exchanges and the air becomes stagnant resulting in increased moisture to the plants.
Our partners at Royal Brinkman have researched the optimal level of air exchanges and the level of mixing to go into the greenhouse, this is the key to the FABER system. And because every climate is different we modify the airflows based on your climate-so each installation is uniquely suited to your crop and area.
