Biofactory and Sustainability

With more and more 'less traditional' uses for greenhouse structures, our structures are becoming more like ‘biological factories’ rather than simple protection from the elements. Structures these days use very high tech computer controls and cooling systems with nutrients dosed to the plants with high levels of accuracy. All details can be controlled, temperature, labour input, even C0² levels.

Crops as far diverse as tomatoes to grapes, cherries to lettuce. Even fish are being effectively harvested in greenhouse environments.

At Faber we also see value in producing a product that provides produce in a sustainable manner. How do we do this? By researching and developing greenhouse designs which use electricity and water more efficiently, providing a greater yield per square metre, resulting in a decreased geographical footprint. This is the concept of the BioFactory™-less conventional and more forward thinking. We will continue to innovate and bring to the marketplace more sustainable greenhouse developments.
